GRAND BANK, NL – A Fortune man was sentenced in Supreme Court in Grand Bank Thursday for charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the Criminal Code.
Steven Thornhill, 43, pleaded guilty to four charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and was sentenced to 20 months in jail.
According to information provided to the Southern Gazette by the Supreme Court in Grand Bank, the drugs included cocaine, oxycodone, cannabis resin and marijuana.
Thornhill also pleaded guilty to two counts of unsafe storage of firearms and was sentenced to an additional month in jail, along with a 10-year firearms’ prohibition and two years’ probation. He will also pay victim surcharges totaling $1,200.
In total, Thornhill was sentenced to 21 months in jail.
A DNA order was also made.
