Golden Broom Award winners announced

St. John’s Clean and Beautiful has announced winners of its Golden Broom Awards.

Business awards go to Ultramar, downtown — Christine Delaney; Clovelly Golf Course — Judy Dobbin; and Gracie Joe’s — Alfred Hynes.

Its School of the Year Award goes to St. Paul’s Junior High School — Christina Pike, principal and a Citizen of the Year Award goes to Dr. Wallace Rendell.

The Golden Broom Awards recognize the contributions of exceptional citizens, schools and businesses who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to keeping St. John’s clean and beautiful through initiatives, such as litter management, litter reduction, educational initiatives, beautification, and presentation and pride.

The awards will be presented in St. John's City Council chambers at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19.

 St. John’s Clean and Beautiful is voluntary non-profit organization committed to creating public awareness, ownership, and involving the community in the cleanliness and beautification of the city.
