Transocean oilrig Henry Goodrich arrived in Mortier Bay Sunday afternoon for some work.

Wayne Brake, president of the MWF/CAW Local 20 at the Peter Kiewit Offshore facility, indicated repairs to the flare boom and other welding was to be completed at Spanish Room.

The Henry Goodrich was on its way to Newfoundland from the Gulf of Mexico last Wednesday night when a towline was disconnected during bad weather off Massachusetts. The rig was powered by two thrusters until the weather cleared and the towline could be reattached.

Meanwhile, Brake indicated the Marystown facility has become a bit more active of late in preparation for the arrival of the Terra Nova FPSO in late June.

“We’ve got around 50 or 52 employees there now trying to get ready. I’m expecting a big influx (of workers) probably the first week in May.”
