Jacob Hoggard has apologized to his fan, Kayla Andrews, and promised to fly her and a guest to one of Hedley’s Canadian festival dates this summer.

Andrews had approached Hoggard at the Sundance last Friday after their concert at Mile One Stadium and tapped Hoggard on the shoulder, hoping to speak with him and get a photo. She says that Hoggard had responded by shouting, “Hey! Look at the midget!” and turned his back to her.

The story has gone viral and caused many fans to express their feelings about the comment, both on Geoff Meeker’s “Meeker on Media” blog, hosted by The Telegram, and the Hedley Facebook page.

Hoggard has released a statement on the page:

“Our fans are our number one priority. The reason we're where we are today. This is why it saddens me to hear a comment I may have made in St. John's was hurtful to one of you, and for that I am sorry. Those who know us, know that we always try to go above and beyond for our wonderful fans and it was never my intention to alienate or offend anyone. If someone knows how we can reach Kayla, please let us know. We would like to fly her and a guest to one of our Canadian festival dates this summer, and apologize to her personally.
