RNC investigating Bauline Line house fire

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating a house fire around 4:18 a.m. this morning on Bauline Line.

According to police, damage to the home was extensive but, fortunately, there were no serious injuries. One occupant of the house was reportedly taken to the Health Sciences Centre.

The RNC fire investigation unit is continuing its investigation and cause of the fire is unknown at this time .

In a 24-hour period up to early this morning, the RNC responded to 186 calls for service.

Other incidents in the RNC's latest overnight report:

• At 12:45 p.m. Thursday, patrol services responded to a complaint at a St. John’s supermarket where a male youth was charged with petty trespass and breach of a court order. The accused was released for a later court date.

• At 1:40 p.m. Thursday, the RNC responded to a complaint of theft from a supermarket in the center of St. John's.

A 48-year-old woman was charged with theft and fraud. She was released to appear in court at a later date.

• At 8 p.m. Thursday, RNC officers responded to a disturbance at the Avalon Mall.

As a result, a 24 -year-old man was charged with three counts of assault. Police say injuries were minor in nature and the accused was held in custody to appear in court this morning.
