A 20-year-old St. John’s man is facing charges after police seized marijuana plants, processed marijuana and other items associated with the illegal drug trade from his apartment.

Members of the RCMP Federal Operations Team East searched the man’s residence Thursday afternoon and discovered the grow operation.

The RCMP seized seven mature plants, two pounds of dried processed marijuana (equivalent to approximately 2,500 marijuana cigarettes), a marijuana oil extractor, and other chemicals associated to the illegal drug trade.

The man is facing charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act for the Production and Trafficking of Marijuana.

Police are reminding the public that poor ventilation in some grow operations can lead to a potentially deadly buildup of gas, and can cause respiratory and allergy problems.
