Temporary vessel reassignments were announced today for ferry operations on the Bell Island and St. Brendan’s runs.

The Department of Transportation and Works said the MV Flanders has come out of service from the Bell Island operation today for mechanical repairs and is expected to be off the run for several days.

The Flanders has encountered steering problems.

The MV Galatea will continue to service Bell Island as weather permits and the MV Grace Sparkes — which had been on the St. Brendan's run —is expected to be added to the Bell Island run.

The Grace Sparkes will be leaving the St. Brendan's run today to sail to Conception Bay for service on the Bell Island run when it arrives.

A contingency helicopter service will be provided to St. Brendan’s in the interim.
