A male driver is facing serious charges following a high speed chase with the RNC. The police ditched the chase due to high speeds that eventually resulted in a three vehicle accident on Saturday afternoon.

At 2:15 pm police attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Cashin Avenue. A chase ensued and due to the high speeds, police did not continue to follow. The car they were pursuing was involved in a collision with two other vehicles in the area of Kenmount Road a short time later. The vehicle still failed to stop but also crashed a short distance later on Peet Street.

A 27 year old male and 23 year old female were apprehended near the vehicle. The male was charged with impaired driving, impaired driving causing bodily harm, flight from police, leaving  the scene of an accident, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, and six breaches of the Highway Traffic Act. He was held for court. The female passenger was charged with two breaches of court order. She too was held for court.

The two drivers of the other vehicles that were struck suffered what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
