A man who spat on police officers has been sentenced to six months in jail.

Christopher Westcott was sentenced today in provincial court in St. John’s today.

He was given 75 days’ credit for the time he’s already spent in custody, leaving about 3 1/2 months to serve.

The 31-year-old was arrested in November in the Goulds, where Westcott was said to have been causing a disturbance.

When officers tried to restrain him, he spat at them several times.

He pleaded guilty to assaulting police officers, uttering threats, resisting arrest and breach of probation.
