Men fined $3,000 each for violating food fishery rules

Marvin Robbins and Milton Robbins of Lumsden have each been fined $3,000 for offences related to the recreational cod fishery in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Both were charged for exceeding the daily bag limit of cod during the 2013 recreational groundfish fishery.

Both men were convicted on Feb. 4 in provincial court in Gander.

Marvin Robbins was convicted and sentenced on one charge and fined $3,000. He also forfeited 32 cod fillets, 48 round cod, 14 cod tongues, and two cod cheeks.

Milton Robbins was convicted and sentenced on one charge and received a fine of $3,000.

A court date is pending for a third individual involved in this case.
