Local director Deanne Foley’s latest feature is on its way to Cannes.

“Relative Happiness” has been selected to screen as part of Perspective Canada_Cannes, a Telefilm Canada initiative that showcases recent Canadians films at the prestigious film festival in France, May 15-22.

“We are so excited to have ‘Relative Happiness’ showcased,” Foley said in a written statement. “The screening there is a wonderful opportunity for us to gain international exposure for the film. We think the movie will definitely resonate with audiences around the world, and we’re sure everyone is going to fall in love with our incredibly talented lead actress Melissa Bergland.”

Bergland, an Australian actress, plays the lead role of Lexie, owner of a bed and breakfast who is convinced she’ll fulfill her dream of a perfect romance when Mr. Right lands on her doorstep.

The film, produced by Wreckhouse Productions and Lady Hammond Entertainment is based on the novel of the same name by Atlantic Canadian writer Lesley Crewe.
