RCMP on scene of fatal motor vehicle accident on Witless Bay Line

The RCMP is investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident this morning on the Witless Bay Line, about eight kilometres from Witless Bay.

A man, the lone occupant of the vehicle, died in the single-vehicle accident.

Skid marks on the roadway indicated the vehicle left the road and rolled into the wooded area.

RCMP officers remain on the scene investigating, and officers trained in accident reconstruction are enroute to the scene.

Earlier this morning the RCMP advised that emergency equipment was at the scene and that the roadway was blocked to traffic. A later news release advised the Witless Bay Line was open to one-lane of traffic only.
