RNC still investigating woman’s disappearance

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is continuing to seek the assistance of the general public in locating 50-year-old Judith Skanes, who was reported missing on Saturday, May 10.

The RNC said through the course of its investigation, it was determined that she was last heard from that morning around 9 a.m. in the area of Bradbury’s Road, Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s.

Skanes is described as being about five feet, four inches tall, 150 pounds with shoulder-length blonde hair and blue eyes. She also wears dark-rimmed eye glasses. It is unknown at this time what clothing Skanes was wearing at the time of her disappearance.

 It is believed that she may have been operating a 2003 Red Honda CRV, Newfoundland and Labrador licence plate HGC-303.

The vehicle was located around 8:20 p.m. on May 10 on the side of the road near the Cape Spear sign, facing the Cape Spear Lighthouse.

The RNC is encouraging anyone who may have seen this vehicle or a woman fitting the above description in the area of Cape Spear between 9 a.m. and 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, or anyone with information that could assist investigators to please contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
