Firefighters rescued a cat from a three-storey condominium on Portugal Cove Road this afternoon.
The cat, named Pepper, had apparently climbed a tree and jumped on to the roof four days ago and was unable to get itself down.

Supt. Robert fowler of the St. John's Regional Fire Department says the department does not usually respond to these types of calls, as the majority of animals are able to get out of such predicaments. This cat was stranded for four days, however, exacerbating the situation.

Firefighters used the bucket truck to access the roof. Unfortunately the cat was frightened by the activity and finally mustered the courage to jump into the tree, where firefighters were finally able to grab it.

The cat was then quickly reunited with owner Allan Thibert.
