Strange events lead to Placentia man’s arrest

A 19-year-old man in Placentia is facing a variety of charges after he alleged broke into a home and assaulted two people.

According to a news release, Placentia RCMP were first called to 20 Battery Road at 4:30 a.m. Sunday after the suspect reportedly broke into the home and assaulted two people inside. Police said he was kicked out of the house, after which the suspect allegedly used rocks and a piece of lumber to break all the windows in a car parked outside.

RCMP could not locate the suspect, and were still searching the area when a call came in at 8:15 a.m. reporting that same car was now on fire.

The 19-year-old was later arrested and charged with break and enter, assault, uttering threats and mischief. Police are still investigating the arson incident.
