Man dead after moose collision

A 29 year man from Stephenville Crossing is dead as a result of moose accident near St. Georges on the Trans Canada Highway.

The accident happened around 10:55 p.m. on Saturday.

 

The vehicle was discovered approximately 20 feet off the highway and down a slight embankment. The male driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased the scene. A police investigation found that the collision with the moose occurred in the car's lane of travel on the highway and the vehicle sustained considerable damage as a result of the collision.

 

A 26 year old female from Stephenville Crossing who was a passenger in the vehicle was transported to the Sir Thomas Hospital in Stephenville where she was kept overnight and treated for non life threatening injuries.
