New information concerning a St. John’s man who vanished without a trace over a year ago has convinced police to search the Mount Scio Road area of the city.

Joshua Miller, 20, was initially reported missing Feb. 10, 2013. He was reportedly involved in an altercation on George Street and was placed in a cab by friends. Miller was later dropped off in the Stavanger Drive area wearing only jeans and a t-shirt.

Several areas have been searched since then, including the Stavanger Drive area and Mobile, but no trace of Miller was found.

Late Friday afternoon, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary announced it will conduct a search this weekend around Mount Scio Road.

Shortly after Miller’s disappearance, the RNC reported that someone saw Miller at approximately 8 a.m. in the area of Baird Place off Thorburn Road. That same day, he had reportedly been spotted near the Avalon Mall mid-afternoon. Mount Scio Road also connects to Thorburn Road.

The RNC is asking anyone with information about this case to contact police and provide as much detail as possible. The RNC’s major crime unit recently set up a direct tip line at 729-8800.
