On Saturday, May 31, RNC officers were called to Walsh’s Store on St. Clare Ave. in St. John’s.

In daylight, with the occasional vehicle driving by, the suspect is seen kicking in a basement window and sliding in the building to gain access. It appears the suspect leaves through the window and enters again at least three times — on one occasion items stuffed under his hoodie sweater fall unto the sidewalk.

The store’s alarm was set off at approximately 7:30 a.m., the RNC said in a news release.

The store owner checked around the exterior of the store but did not notice anything suspicious until entering the store at 9:30 a.m.

Items taken included an undisclosed quantity of cash, cigarettes and lotto tickets.

Investigators are asking anyone with information in relation to this break, enter and theft to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can provide information anonymously on the NL Crime Stoppers website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
