One person dead, two injured in SUV-transport truck collision

A female passenger of a SUV involved in a collision with a transport truck died this morning on the province’s west coast.

Two other occupants of the SUV were taken to Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the transport truck was not injured.

The accident occurred approximately 11:30 a.m. on the Trans Canada Highway, east of Hampton Junction.  

The Deer Lake RCMP, RCMP Traffic Services West, local ambulance services and fire departments from Deer Lake and Hampton responded to the crash.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time for notification of next of kin.

The investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing and a RCMP collision re-constructionist is on scene.
