The Town of Conception Bay South says a forest fire that’s been burning near homes in the community since Monday afternoon is now contained.
According to a news release, a dozen forestry workers and provincial government firefighters were still in the area late Tuesday afternoon to take care of hot spots.
Wind conditions in the area are reportedly helpful, limiting the amount of smoke visible from what remains of the fire. A water bomber was also in the area Tuesday.
The fire has been burning near Red Ridge Road and Tilleys Road South, covering a three-hectare area. Showers are forecasted for Conception Bay South on Wednesday.
