This time around, there were no surprise 11th hour entries into the leadership race, and just after noon today the PC Party confirmed that Paul Davis, Steve Kent and John Ottenheimer will be the three contenders for the leadership campaign.

One of those three men will become premier shortly after the Tories’ convention on the weekend of Sept. 12.

Throughout July and August, district associations across the province will hold meetings to elect delegates for the convention.

All of this comes after the party’s first attempt at a leadership campaign this spring fell apart, with all three candidates either getting kicked out or withdrawing before anybody had a chance to vote for them.

Last time around, no members of the Progressive Conservative cabinet entered into the race. This time, with Kent and Davis stepping aside from cabinet posts to run, Premier Tom Marshall will almost certainly have to shuffle his cabinet at some point in the next week or so.
