The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating vehicle fires that occurred early Tuesday morning in the Indian Meal Line area of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s.

The RNC said police and firefighters responded to two fires around 2:20 a.m. Tuesday

A news release from the RNC said the vehicles were not in close proximity and the fires appear to be suspicious in nature.

The Telegram has learned that four vehicles were burned — a tractor-trailer, a car and pickup on private property off Indian Meal Line.

Another pickup truck was stolen in the vicinity from a separate private property and burned in a secluded nearby field.

There is video surveillance, which is being provided to RNC fire investigators.

There have been no arrests yet in connection with the incidents.
