A 33 year old man is dead and a 34 year old man is in serious condition following a single vehicle accident on Highway 510 in Labrador.

The incident occurred about 11:30 A.M. Labrador time on Saturday approximately 120 KM East of the Churchill River Bridge.

The driver appears to have lost control of his 2007 Dodge pickup truck while negotiating a curve causing the vehicle to roll a number of times. Both occupants were ejected from the truck.

The driver, a resident of Marys Harbour, is believed to have died instantly. The 34 year old passenger was injured and transported by helicopter to the Labrador Grenfell Health Center in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. The male suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

A number of travellers that came upon the scene attempted to help and contacted emergency services.

Police are continuing to investigate to determine if speed or alcohol were factors. It will also be determined if the occupants were wearing seatbelts.
