Man arrested in connection with vehicle break-ins, thefts in Grand Falls-Windsor

A 35-year-old man has been arrested by RCMP in Grand Falls-Windsor as a result of an investigation over the past month, involving vehicle break-ins, in which wallets and purses were stolen.

According to the RCMP, the suspects targeted public areas such as parks, fishing areas and campgrounds. 

Jeremy Bjanes is facing numerous charges ranging from possession of stolen property, use of stolen credit cards and bank cards to impersonation. 

Bjanes is currently remanded until a bail hearing on Friday. 

The RCMP anticipate charges will also be laid against a co-accused of Bjanes.

The investigation resulted in the seizure of passports, social insurance numbers, driver’s licences, credit cards and debit cards of more than 20 different people from all over the island. 

The RCMP recommends locking your vehicles when they are unattended and reporting any suspicious persons or activity.
