The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary issued lots of tickets to drivers in the St. John’s metro area during the month of July.

According to data released Monday, 196 summary offence tickets were issued from July 1 to Aug. 1. The RNC said its patrol services division paid extra attention to offences related to licensing and equipment regulations outlined in the Highway Traffic Act.

Illegally tinted windows were among the more common issues encountered, with 68 tickets handed out. Police in the Northeast Avalon region issued 48 tickets for using studded tires. The Department of Transportation and Works required all drivers to remove those tires by the end of April.
