Firefighters in St. John’s were called to a pair of overnight fires to start off the weekend.

The calls came in minutes apart Saturday, with the first fire at a shed on Boncloddy Street reported at 2:30 a.m. and the second at a vacant home on Beaumont Street at 2:40 a.m. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary considers the latter fire suspicious.

Police said there were no injuries. Fire investigators are working on both cases.
