Police in St. John’s managed to track down a young man suspected of stealing from a drug store Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, the man ran away from a Shoppers Drug Mart store following the alleged theft. Officers caught up with the suspect on Symonds Avenue and reportedly blocked off the road with police cars to make the arrest.

The accused has since been sent to the St. John’s Lockup. It is not known whether he will appear in court Wednesday or remain in custody overnight for a Thursday appearance.
