A man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries Tuesday morning after falling about 20 feet onto a concrete floor on a worksite in Trepassey.
The RCMP responded to the commercial workplace accident around 8:30 a.m. According to a police report, the 20-year-old construction worker was with a crew starting roof repairs on the building, which is being used by Glamox Lighting Corp. He reportedly stepped backwards onto a transparent, plastic roofing tile and fell, landing on a concrete floor inside the building.
He was airlifted to the Health Sciences Centre with serious injuries and is reportedly in critical condition.
The RCMP will not release the man’s name pending notification of his family. An investigation into the incident is underway.
