Faulty vent motor possible cause

The Wendy’s and Tim Hortons restaurants on Old Placentia Road in Mount Pearl had to be evacuated briefly Sunday evening when one of the workers at Wendy’s spotted smoke in one of the exhaust vents.

The St. John’s Regional fire department responded and used a ladder truck to access the roof of the restaurant to investigate the cause of the smoke. An official on scene said it appears a motor in the vent may have been at fault.

The Wendy’s restaurant remained closed for the rest of the evening but the Tim Hortons restaurant was able to reopen after about thirty minutes.
