Police don’t want to let this one become a cold cut case, hoping instead they’ll catch the duo red meat handed.

Joking aside, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary are still looking for a couple who they say stole a large quantity of meat valued at more than $250 from a grocery store in the downtown area of St. John’s on Nov. 16.

The couple made it as far as the parking lot before store security caught up with them. The meat was recovered but the couple made their escape.

Police are asking if anyone can identify either of the two people shown in the security photos to call 729-8000 or report information anonymously to Newfoundland and Labrador Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).

The RNC says incidents of meat thefts, once rare, are now on the rise.
