City plow slides off sidewalk, narrowly missing house

A City of St. John's sidewalk plow slid on ice beneath the snow and off the sidewalk, toward a house on Blackler Avenue this  morning.

The operator was uninjured and avoided hitting the house, but a tow truck was on the scene to pull the plow out of the rut.

A resident on the scene said this isn't the first time this has happened because there's a dropoff between the sidewalk and his house. He said the city has been asked in the past to fill it in, but nothing has been done about it.
