Marystown man charged in marijuana, meth seizure

A Marystown man was arrested earlier this week for possessing marijuana and methamphetamine pills.

Calvin Earl Mayo was arrested by Burin RCMP officers Tuesday and charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

The RCMP said a small amount of cannabis marijuana and 15 methamphetamine (Ice) pills were seized. This seizure of methamphetamine pills is the first for the Burin Peninsula.   

Mayo is also facing charges for breach undertaking, as he was subject to conditions for previous drug charges. He is scheduled to appear in court in Grand Bank on March 30.

 The RCMP is continuing to investigate this incident and is asking anyone with any information concerning this crime or any crime, to contact their local RCMP detachment.
