In a ceremony at Government House on Friday morning, Lt.-Gov. Frank Fagan and his wife, Patricia Fagan, received the first two commemorative lapel pins for “We Remember,” recognizing the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Beaumont Hamel on July 1, 2016.

The Community Foundation of Newfoundland (CFNL) partnered with local jeweler The Golden Tulip and Anaconda Mining to produce a limited-editon forget-me-not pin made of stirling silver and certified Newfoundland gold.

Friday morning’s presentation of the two pins recognizes the Lieutenant Governor’s roles as representative of the Crown, Honorary Colonel of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment and patron of CFNL.

The proceeds from the sale of each pin will go toward CFNL’s Maple Leaf Fund, which provides funding to support military members, veterans and their families in Newfoundland and Labrador through Military Family Resource Centres in St. John’s, Gander and Goose Bay.
