Installation of Muskrat Falls marine cable across Strait started

Installation has started on the marine cable in the Strait of Belle Isle for the Muskrat Falls project, the first ever such connection between the island and Labrador.

That is one highlight of the Muskrats Falls project over the month of July.

Each month Nalcor provides an update on the project, which this month also included the completion of the pre-engineered control building at the Soldiers Pond Switchyard, preparation of work in advance of putting the Muskrat Falls spillway in operation and continuation of right of way clearing and access road construction on the island.

According to Nalcor, in July 4,763 residents of Newfoundland and Labrador were employed on the projects, representing over 83 per cent of the total workforce.
