The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) major crime unit has laid charges in relation to a serious assault on Springdale Street in St. John’s.
Shortly before 4:30 a.m. this morning, patrol officers responded to St. Clare’s emergency department where a woman had been taken there with serious injuries after being assaulted at a Springdale Street street home a short time earlier.
A 41-year-old St. John’s man was charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
Police say the 43-year old victim was treated for her injuries and has since been discharged.
Neither the victim nor the accused resided at the home where the incident took place, but they new each other, police say.
