A woman who reported an early Easter Monday robbery to police is now in trouble with the law for misleading a police investigation.

RNC patrol services responded to the woman's report around 1:30 a.m. Monday.

The 49-year-old woman claimed she had been confronted by a man known to her, who used physical force to take her purse containing prescription medication.

Police discovered the man identified by the victim as the culprit had a solid alibi — he was incarcerated at Her Majesty's Penitentiary at the time of the alleged offence, making it impossible for him to have been responsible.

Wednesday, the woman was charged with public mischief and is required to appear at provincial court on June 8.
