A number of people showing up at the A.C. Hunter Library at the Arts and Culture Centre in St. John’s discovered that the library couldn’t beat the heat and was closed for the day.
A sign in the window states that, “due to extreme heat in the building, A.C. Hunter Library will be closed for the rest of the day.”
On Facebook, it states, “The A.C. Hunter Library will be closed today due to very high heat and humidity levels in the building. Both of the other St. John's branches will be open — the Marjorie Mews on Highland Drive and the Michael Donovan on Topsail Road. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
The province has been experiencing a period of high temperatures and high humidity levels.
