Around 5 p.m. the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to a report of a break and entry on Freshwater Road in St. John’s. The suspect, an 18-year-old man, who was known by the victim, took off from the scene before police arrived.

He was located a short time later driving a vehicle, but he refused to stop for police. Police disengaged from pursuit after attempting to stop him because of public safety concerns.

The vehicle and the suspect were located a short distance away and as a result he was arrested and charged with uttering threats, dangerous driving, flight from police, malicious damage and breach of a court order.

The man was held in custody to appear before a judge.
