Afternoon driver in St. John's charged with drug impairment

At 1:30 p.m. Thursday, RNC patrol services received a complaint about a vehicle being operated in an erratic manner on the Trans Canada Highway eastbound.

The vehicle was located on Portugal Cove Road, after it exited the TCH.

Police say they suspected the driver was impaired by drugs. Test were conducted by an RNC officer designated as a drug recognition expert and urine samples were obtained from the man for analysis at the National Crime Laboratory

The 22-year-old Conception Bay South resident has been charged with operation of a vehicle while impaired by a drug.
