Alleged St. John's gun thief denied bail

A man accused of stealing a gun from a St. John’s business early this week has been denied bail.

Adam Hanlon, 34, will remain in custody until his next court appearance, on Aug. 18.

Hanlon was arrested Tuesday evening in Goulds, and has been charged with a number of offences: possession of a weapon obtained by crime, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, assault with a weapon (a car) and driving while disqualified.

Police had received a call from staff at Complete Gun Repair on O’Leary Avenue Sunday night saying a man had stolen a gun and ammunition from the shop before taking off in a damaged Honda Civic.
