In a press release issued today by RCMP, police say the man was taken into custody without incident on Wednesday.
According to the release, on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at about 2:30 p.m., RCMP received a complaint of an agitated 42 year-old man alone in his home in Port au Choix.
Upon attendance, police began communicating with the man who had barricaded himself inside his home.
The man indicated he was armed.
The RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) was called to assist during the situation.
Officers continued negotiations throughout the evening and night.
At about 8:30 a.m. the next morning, Wednesday, Jan. 4, the man was taken into custody by police without incident.
He is now receiving medical attention.
Police say the safety of the general public was not at risk at any time during the incident.
