The 1st Pasadena Scouting Group, accompanied by the 54th Corner Brook Scouting Group, participated in a National Wildfire Community Preparedness Day Saturday at West Haven United Church Camp in Pasadena.

The 1st Pasadena Scouting Group was one of 94 groups across the country that received $500 in funding for local mitigation projects designed to help reduce the risk of wildfire damage in their communities.

Along with corporate donations, the award money will be used to support this offering and acquire tools necessary to create a defensible space around all the camp buildings to protect them from the threat of wildfire.

As a legacy to this project, the tools will remain at West Haven so camp administrators can continue to maintain the defensible space required around all the structures to protect the camp into the future.
