A 61-year-old man was killed in an all-terrain vehicle accident Thursday night in the Logger School Road area.

The deceased, who was believed to be a resident of Benoit’s Cove in Humber Arm South, was the passenger on the vehicle.

The driver, a 62-year-old man, is in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook.

Police received a call for assistance around 9:40 p.m. Thursday evening. Sgt. Lori Canning of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said the accident is under investigation and it’s too early to tell what caused the tragedy and if helmets were worn, but she said police don’t believe alcohol was a factor.
