On May 14, a C.B.S. resident found what was thought to be the remains of a dog submerged in a small saltwater pond off of Pond Road. The body was recovered with the assistance of the C.B.S. Fire Department and the animal, in advanced stages of decomposition, was found to have twine around its legs.

The animal remains were examined by the office of the province’s chief veterinarian and the results indicated the animal was a coyote.
Police say it appeared the coyote had been shot, which was most likely the cause of death. It is not known whether the animal was legally hunted or not, and it’s not known how the animal came to be in the pond where it was found.
However, police have closed the case.
