The Burin Folk Arts Council is hosting the 34th edition of the Burin Peninsula Festival of Folk Song and Dance starting this evening and running through Sunday.
The official opening is at 6:45 p.m. tonight. The first session, ‘Irish-Newfoundland’, follows shortly after and features Austin and Nora Antle, Joe Pidgeon, Earl Pardy, Vanessa and Darrell Jackman, Ron Flannigan and many more. The evening wraps with a performance by the Grand Bank Rovers.
Throughout the rest of the weekend, many acts will take the stage, including the Penney Folk Dancers, the Sweet Forget Me Nots, the Ray Walsh Family Band and the Burin Heritage Dancers.
The festival is open to all ages.
