Cab driver held up by two men in St. John's

A St. John's taxi driver reported to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) early this morning (Friday) she was held up in the east end by two men with a weapon after they were picked up downtown. 

The pair fled the cab with stolen cash shortly before 1:30 a.m.

With the assistance of the RNC K9 Unit, a 28-year-old man was arrested near the robbery scene.

Police say he will be facing charges of armed robbery and a number of other charges are pending.

The investigation continues and police are expecting to make further arrests.

The accused will be appearing in court this morning.
