There were no serious injuries but a two-vehicle collision in rainy weather Thursday night left a utility pole cracked off. The incident also closed a section of Richard Nolan Drive between Old Placentia Road and Merchant Drive until Newfoundland Power workers could repair the pole. The collision caused extensive damage to the car that hit the pole but only minor damage to the second vehicle. As well, despite the fact the section of road was blocked by emergency vehicles, some motorists drove around the police and fire trucks to access the closed section.
