ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — The westbound lane of the Outer Ring Road in St. John’s was closed for a time this morning due to a vehicle fire just west of the Allandale Road access.

Firefighters were on the scene, but the vehicle was destroyed.

The female driver was uninjured.

Traffic flow has since been restored.

There almost was an associated accident when a flatbed truck travelling in the eastbound lane went sideways after slamming on its brakes as it approached slowed-down traffic in the fire area. Thankfully, the driver recovered and there was no further incident.
