The man was walking on the shoulder of the road just after midnight when an eastbound car apparently knocked him down between Main Road and Hennessey’s Line. Members of the Goulds volunteer fire department, St. John’s Regional fire department and Eastern Health paramedics responded to the incident. The man was placed on a backboard and stretcher and placed aboard an ambulance to be transported to hospital for treatment while the distraught female driver of the car watched from a distance. The car’s passenger side rear-view mirror could be seen lying on the shoulder of the road near the scene. The man’s injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. The RNC are investigating.
