Car stopped travelling in wrong direction on TCH near Whitbourne

RCMP are searching for a man armed with a knife who broke into house in Marystown Friday night.
The RCMP set up roadblocks to stop a vehicle travelling westbound in the eastbound lane on the Trans-Canada Highway near Whitbourne on Monday.

WHITBOURNE, NL – A confused motorist caused some tense moments on the Trans-Canada Highway near Whitbourne Monday evening.

Around 8 p.m., the RCMP received a report of a pickup truck travelling westbound in the eastbound lane.

Roadblocks were erected to temporarily stop traffic and prevent an accident from occurring.

The vehicle was found and the driver was taken to hospital to receive medical attention. No charges are expected to be laid in connection with the incident.

The RCMP is thanking the public for their assistance in the matter and reminding motorists to be aware of their surroundings at all times.
